For criminal cases my approach differs based upon when I'm hired. When I am aware of an investigation I can provide the detective(s) and or prosecutor(s) with information that can often prevent the filing of charges. Where charges are inevitable, or the client was cited at the scene and there is enough informatio9n to prosecute, I save this information for court to get the case dismissed or obtain the best result.
While it is always cheaper, safer and better to get a ride rather than drive when you are impaired, people do. As these can affect your ability to drive and any professional license(s) you may hold it is best to have an attorney for these matters. The win rate on DUI's statewide is very small but I have beat them and obtained pleas of wet reckless in some amazing situations. I will do what can be done to minimize this mistake once made.
Failure to have a proper license can be treated as a misdemeanor. There are really three categories of driving without a license and two can be reduced to an infraction, but one carries DMV points. If you drive without a license or without your Ignition interlock Device after a dUI you face a 2 point misdemeanor taht will likely result in a year or more of license suspension. I have helped numerous clients navigate these types of offenses.
For a variety of reasons, warrants are issued and I can appear for you or with you to resolve these issues.
Misdemeanors and even some non-violent felonies can be expunged from your record. Sometimes even the record of the arrest can be sealed. After drug possession was largely decriminalized there has been a steady stream of reasons to expunge old cases.
Another common misdemeanor is battery. I have represented good people who were falsely accused of hitting their spouse, partner or child(ren). Some people I've represented have needed the anger management classes that were part of their probation. As a client told me the worst mistake he made with prior counsel was pleading no contest to spousal battery as it haunted his career. Many times these cases can be reduced as can a common bar fight.
I have helped people with reckless driving, exhibition of speed, obstruction of justice and drug charges. I do not care for handling serious felonies but I have a network of attorneys to whom i can refer you to if you need help in that department.
